Here is the information needed for the upcoming November General Election.
Ordinance 26-04 on Elections
There are four positions open for the City of Gold Hill:
- Mayor (4 year term)
- 3 council seats (4 year terms) - elected at large
You must contact City Hall to validate you are eligible to run for office. You have the option of collecting petition signatures or paying the filing fee.
The following documents and steps below will assist you in the process:
Secretary of State’s City Candidate Manual; and Secretary of State’s Campaign Finance Manual.
Filing steps for City Council positions:
1) On or after June 3, 2026, complete and file Form SEL 101 (Candidate Filing - Major Political Party or Nonpartisan) if you are paying with a filing fee; and Form SEL 121 (Candidate Signature Sheet - Nonpartisan), before gathering signatures, if collecting petition signatures. Form SEL 121 (Candidate Signature Sheet - Nonpartisan) must be submitted for approval prior to circulating for signatures. Failure to receive prior approval will result in the rejection of signature sheets. Remember, you must be registered to vote and have resided within the city limits for a period of one year prior to the election and throughout service. Further, elected officials are required to file a Statement of Economic Interest annually with the Oregon Government Ethics Commission and are also Mandatory Reporters through the Oregon Department of Human Services – Child Welfare.
2) After submitting and receiving approval of Forms SEL 101 and SEL 121, gather at least (6) valid signatures on the approved Form SEL 121 (Candidate Signature Sheet - Nonpartisan) and submit with Form SEL 338 (Petition Submission Form). Forms SEL 121 and SEL 338 should be completed and submitted by 5:00 p.m. on August 18th. This allows time to complete the signature verification process and helps ensure you meet the State’s August 25th filing deadline. Obtaining 20% more signatures than required is recommended in case some are disqualified. (Incumbents deadline is August 11th to the City of Gold Hill). Signatures and addresses on petitions must be identical to the way they appear on voter registration cards filed at the County Elections Office. Once verified by the Jackson County Elections Office, I will notify you of the verification results. Optional – Voters Pamphlet. Candidates intending to file a statement and photograph for publication in the Jackson County Voters’ Pamphlet must do so with the Jackson County Elections Office - (541) 774-6148, no later than August 25th at 4:00 p.m.
